Louis Lasky Memorial Medical and Dental Center
National Organization of Industrial Trade Unions. New York, NY

The National Organization of Industrial Trade Unions provides specialized medical and dental care for thousands of Union members throughout New York City and Long Island. The Louis Lasky Memorial Medical and Dental Center is the flagship facility, featuring the latest in technology and service. The design compliments the Organization’s quality of service with high-end finishes, creative use of lighting, open space planning, and a progressive design motif bridging the medical and dental wings. The project included medical and dental facilities, offices, reception and waiting areas and a conference center.

Jeffrey Berman Architect provided feasibility studies and developed plans for several spaces in New York City to assist the client in negotiating their lease. The client selected 15,000 square feet, that incorporated one-and-a-half floors of a converted Midtown factory building. The old age of the architectural space created tight and irregular building conditions. Jeffrey Berman Architect developed an intelligent and open space plan that met the facility’s functions as well as the complex equipment and systems requirements. The project was under strict time and budget constraints requiring close coordination with the construction manager, it went from schematic design to construction completion and full operation in just six months.
