The Candlewood Isle Community Clubhouse was built to cater to a variety of community and private functions. Along with hosting a day camp and the screening of movies on its in-house projector, The Clubhouse hosts exercise classes, fund raising events, bridge games and parties using its full sized catering kitchen.
Jeffrey Berman Architect teamed up with structural engineers, Severud & Associates to design this facility. During the design phase it was clear that the local community was concerned with the operating costs of the facility and the materials that would be used to constuct it. The Clubhouse's most striking feature, its panoramic view of Candlewood Lake, was made possible through the use of low insulated glazing in the windows. These windows, while giving a wonderful view of the lake, also kept heating & cooling cost down. High efficiency HVAC systems were installed with controls to make the sophisticated systems easy to use. Lumber engineered from renewable resources in the Pacific Northwest, as well as local natural materials were used in much of the Clubhouse's construction.
