The Osteology Lab, a specimen, anatomy and conservation laboratory, is used by many of the Museum's research departments. Jeffrey Berman Architect was sensitive to the operational and research needs of the museum during renovation. Less accessed collections were moved to the lower level of the buiding and compact storage was used to maximize storage space. New mechanical equipment, including a custom maceration tank, degreaser and a freezer room for temperature sensitive collections, were also part of the design.
