Jeffery Berman Architect has worked on several different projects within the Ornithology Department at the American Museum of Natural History. The firm was responsible for the design of a Molecular Systems Laboratory for the Ornithology Department. The Deparment houses one of the world's largest collections of bird specimens in a seventy year old, 75,000 square foot building. The renovation of the lab was the first major upgrade to this landmark building since its original construction.
The Cullman Molecular Lab provides state-of-the-art laboratory facilities for molecular systematics, DNA sequencing, wet chemistry, bird physiology and gross anatomy. The labs covers a full floor of 10,000 square feet consisting of wet labs, collection storage, conference space and offices. The upgrade required installation of new basic systems and infrastructure to support the nodebuzed reasearch laboratories.
Jeffrey Berman Architect also performed a planning study for the Ornithology department, which included 50,000 square feet of the department. The plan resulted in the renovation of the departments offices, some collection space and part of the gallery space.
